Cub Scout Pack 160

Oak Hill, Virginia

About Pack 160

Pack 160, together with about 30 other Cub Scout Packs and 30 Boy Scout Troops in the greater Herndon/ Reston/ Great Falls area make up the Powhatan District. The Powhatan District is one of the 26 subdivisions of the National Capital Area Council, the largest council in the United States. There are over 300 councils in the United States serving over 2,100,000 Cub Scouts and with nearly 600,000 volunteers.

Each Cub Scout Pack is sponsored by a "chartering" organization. Our chartered organization is the Optimist Club of Western Fairfax. All parents are welcome to attend Optimist Club meetings. The chartered organization provides a representative who is the liaison between the Pack and the organization. The Pack is run by the Pack Committee, which is headed by the Committee Chairman. In Pack 160, all adult leaders are committee members. The Committee meets once each month to plan Pack meetings and other Pack activities. Parents are always welcome at these meetings. The Cubmaster is in charge of the Pack meetings and Pack Program and reports to the committee.

The Den and the Pack can't run without parent involvement! Please give some consideration as to how you would like to participate. You may like to be a den leader, or help arrange an outing for the pack, or coordinate the committee members, or track the advancement of our scouts. The continued success and enthusiasm of Pack 160 depends on the support and participation of all families in the Pack.

The organization of Cub Scout Pack 160 mirrors national guidelines. Boys meet in small groups (dens) of 5 to 9 boys. Each den has an adult leader or leaders and consists of boys in the same grade. First graders are Tiger Cubs; second graders are Wolf Cubs; third graders are Bear Cubs; and fourth and fifth graders are Webelos.
